Thorpe Road/ Kingston
This property in Kingston Upon-Thames had been largely unchanged for fifty years and required full refurbishment and modernisation before the new family could move in. We designed an extension to the attic for the master suite – this ‘piggy backs’ the existing roof, sitting back from the front elevation helping to preserve the existing roof line of the streetscape. At ground floor to the rear we have created a light-filled extension with hipped/pitched roof. Built in a monochromatic palette of Staffordshire Blue brick with grey minimal framed sliding doors, triangular transom window above and a floor to ceiling side window separating the existing house from the new extension whilst allow for more light into the extended kitchen. The extension offers a contemporary contrast to the Victorian brick of the existing property whilst echoing the form of the existing roof structure.
